His Excellency, the Governor of Maharashtra, Shri. S.M. Krishna has initiated a novel inter university research project competition named ‘AVISHKAR’ in the year 2006. This activity, unique in its nature and Savitribai Phule Pune University has taken special efforts to increase the participation of the talented students from rural and urban areas. Special efforts were taken to organize Regional competitions, organize special training to these students and provide them necessary help and guidance to enhance their abilities to present their work in an effective manner.
Savitribai Phule Pune University conducts this competition at zonal level, district wise. Our college were permitted to conduct ‘Avishkar’ at zonal level consecutively four times from 2013-18.
Aims and Objectives of AVISHKAR:
To inculcate research culture among students
To encourage original and novel thinking
To provide an opportunity for expression of academic talent
To promote interaction among academia, R & D Institutes and Industries
Categories for Participation:
I. Humanities, Languages, Fine Arts, etc.
II. Commerce, Management, Law
III. Pure Sciences
IV. Agriculture and Animal Husbandry
V. Engineering & Technology
VI. Medicine and Pharmacy
Each college/institution can send separate entries for four levels of:
UG Level
PG level
Post PG level
(M. Phil /PhD)
Teacher level
Guidelines of the participants:
Projects can be in the form of live demonstration /models / posters and should be based on innovative ideas, in given six categories.
Each college/institution can send a maximum of two entries in each category, irrespective of their levels (UG/PG / M.Phil-Ph.D.)
In the First Round, All contestants are expected to display their posters of 1m X 1m size before a panel of judges appointed for the purpose.
Selected projects from the I-Round will have to give oral presentation before Judges.
Each oral presentation will be given 8 minutes for presentation and 2 minutes for question and answers.
There is no restriction on the number of students engaged in each of the team but only one representative will present the Project at the exhibition.
All required basic infrastructural facilities like working space, electricity, water, tables, mounting boards, LCD projector, overhead projector etc., will be made available. For any special requirements, if any, participants should inform the coordinator well in advance.
All entries should be forwarded through the principal of the college /Head of the institution.
Registration is compulsory for all participants. There will be no registration fee.
Participants will be issued participation certificates from the University.
Mounting boards (poster display boards) of 1m X 1m size will be made available.
The decision of judges will be final and binding on all participants.
All winning teams will be informed about their selection on the same day.
Winning teams will be selected for participation in the STAGE-II held which will be held at Savitribai Phule University, Pune.

The Avishkar: Maharashtra State Inter-University Research Convention was initiated in 2006 by the former Governor of Maharashtra to foster research among university students. Over the years, this convention has become a platform for thousands of young researchers to explore new areas of knowledge, connect with like-minded individuals, and develop innovative solutions to various problems.
Savitribai Phule Pune University has introduced multiple programs to encourage student research, including the Avishkar Research Project Competition, the Startup and Innovation Competition, and the ASPIRE Research Project Scheme. To ensure the success of these initiatives, each affiliated college appoints a faculty member as an Academic and Research Coordinator (ARC).
As per Circular No. 355/2024, dated 12th September 2024, the College-Level Avishkar Competition was organized at Mahant Jamnadas Maharaj Arts, Commerce, and Science College. The event provided a platform for students to present their innovative research ideas and interact with experts in their fields.College on 24th September 2024. The event saw an enthusiastic response, with more than 51 projects registered for participation. The entries were categorized and organized based on specific disciplines and levels of study.
